Nottingham Forest: (3-5-2): Crossley ; Edwards , Chettell , Bonalair ; Louis-Jean , Stone , Palmer , Gemmill (Sub Quashie ), Stensaas ; Darcheville (Sub Shipperley ), Van Hooijdonk Subs not used: Beasant, Hjelde, Woan. Bookings: Charlton - Tiler, Robinson. Forest - Louis-Jean, Palmer, Darcheville. Due to monitoring the internet commentary for our huge Internet audience we were not able to go to todays game, this is our report of what we heard. The surprise of the day today was the first appearance of the season for Mark Crossley making his first start since April 1997. Christian Edwards was also given his first start for Forest. But the Forest defence did not start well with both Louis Jean and Edwards allowing Charlton the chance of an early goal. Luckily it went over the post. Crossley made an excellent save on 15 minutes and looked comfortable back in the first team. Forest's attack was weak in the first half and they were very slow at coming forward. Chances for Darcheville and Stone did not hit the mark. Early in the second half Forest survived Charlton pleas for a penalty after a hand ball from Edwards. Crossley made a second brilliant save, keeping the ball out of the net, hindered rather than helped by some poor defending. And the one-man defence saved yet again after a poor mistake from Chettle. Darcheville had several opportunities to score but seemed unable to take the chances. He was eventually replaced by Shipperley. Chettle gave away a penalty chance on 70 mins, but hero of the day and, undoubtedly man of the match on his return, 'Norman' saved Redfearn's attempt. One point and a clean sheet was about all that's left to be said. Report from The Express Sport Live http://www.express-sport.com/ |
